As a spiritual coach and trance healer, I often meet people who are waking up spiritually—but not all spiritual awakenings feel light and peaceful. Some feel confusing, even scary. When someone is seeing visions, hearing voices, or feeling lost between this world and another, doctors might call it psychosis. But is that what it really is?
Let’s talk about spiritual psychosis—what it means, how to recognise it, and how to get support.
Spiritual psychosis isn’t a medical term, but it’s a phrase people use when a spiritual awakening feels more like a breakdown than a breakthrough.
In this state, someone might:
Now, in the medical world, these signs might be diagnosed as psychosis. But from a spiritual perspective, we might see it differently. The person isn’t “broken”—they may just be opening up too quickly, without the right tools, grounding, or protection.
This is a delicate subject. Some people genuinely need medical help, and I would never suggest ignoring that. But in many cases, what’s happening isn’t mental illness—it’s spiritual sensitivity without support.
It’s like plugging into a high voltage socket with no filter. It can short-circuit your system. That’s why grounding, energetic protection, and spiritual guidance are so important.
In my experience as a trance healer, spiritual psychosis often happens when:
This isn’t something to fear—it’s something to understand. With the right support, balance can be restored.
In my work, I hold space for people going through intense spiritual experiences. Through healing, teaching, and energy work, we bring grounding back. I guide clients to understand what’s happening, reconnect with their body, and feel safe again.
If you or someone you love is going through this, know this: you’re not alone, and you’re not crazy.
You’re just more awake than most.
